Workshops

Participants learn to make award ribbons and/or scout-style badges out of felt, and embroider the personal award or affirmation of their choice.

Participants will explore beloved memories of "Home" through art. Participants will follow along with prompts and activities, and use various materials and techniques including paper and mixed media collage, drawing, creative writing, and more. This workshop is all about providing an outlet to both write out and visually map out parts of our memories.

Memory Lane (2022) was a a 6-week online workshop series for seniors, developed and organized by Davenport-Perth Neighbourhood & Community Health Centre and the students of Centennial College’s Art Education & Community Engagement Program.

These workshops explored different themes and techniques used in art journaling, and provided meaningful engagement experiences with local seniors.

At the Mary Sheffield Community Arts Garden (2021) residents participated in weekly crafts centred around the use of materials found in the garden.

Participants were able to create personal tie-dyed shirts and tablecloths using native plants as keepsakes from the program.
